Amish Shah jointly heads the corporate team at ATZ Law Chambers. He read Human Geography at York University in Toronto where he attained a BA (Specialised Hons.) whereafter he read law at City University in London and attained an LLB (Hons). He was called to the Bar in England and Wales in 2005 and the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court (Anguilla Circuit) in 2009. His practice focuses mainly on the regulated sectors such as energy and mining and oil and gas. He also advises on competition law, mergers and acquisitions, employment and general corporate/commercial law. He has acted for and advised international oil companies on setting up and farm ins in oil and gas blocks, farm outs and structuring of such farm outs including obtaining regulatory consents/authorisations and antitrust approvals. He has reviewed and negotiated production sharing agreements, implementation agreements as well as joint operating agreements. He has acted for and advised various mining companies on setting up in Tanzania including reviewing and negotiating mining development agreements and obtaining mineral licences. Amish has also advised parties on corporate restructuring, mergers and acquisitions including antitrust/competition issues as well as undertaking detailed due diligence on various transactions. He has also worked in the manufacturing industry as the resident director in Nigeria prior to returning to the legal field which has given him an understanding of the commercial aspects of running a business and this has allowed him to provide legal advice which looks at the commercials as well as the law.
