Shiraz has a predominantly Criminal law practice, involving Fraud & Confiscation, Bribery & Corruption Law balanced with Human Rights Law, Court Martials, and Environmental and Energy Law, which has developed over the last 14 years and continues to do so as he works throughout the United Kingdom and internationally. Many of the cases that Shiraz is involved in are serious, complex and lengthy. In fact, he has recently been described as “one of the most sought after criminal practitioners” in various Commonwealth Caribbean jurisdictions. Shiraz has led in many successful high-profile cases internationally and continues to do so.
Shiraz has also been involved in many successful high-profile parole board hearings. Recently, Shiraz has been instructed to lead defence teams on some of the largest money laundering cases in the Eastern Caribbean, with leading juniors such as Alberton Richileu, Vynnette Frederick and Mira Commissiong as well as leading Queens Counsel Bertrum Commissiong QC. He has also been instructed in cases involving the illegal importation of arms and ammunitions, including in cases where manufacturers of firearms have been in breach of their export and manufacturing licenses.
